Carolyn Cheek, 86, of Visalia passed away April 26, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Born on January 31, 1927 to Orville and Nellie Naylor of Shirley, Arkansas, Carolyn is preceded in death by Kenneth Cheek, her husband of 53 years, her sister, Hazel Buckner and brother, Bernie Naylor. She is survived by her sister Bonnie (Charlie) Buford of Visalia, her daughters: Sharon (Manuel) Briano of Hanford, Linda (David) Lake of Visalia, Shirley (Terry) Atkins of Exeter, and Penny (Mike) Adams of Exeter. Her nine grandchildren: Kelly Ike of Hanford, Kenny Champlin of Hanford, Mario Briano of Hanford, David Lake of Visalia, Mark Atkins of Exeter, Michael Briano of Visalia, Tara Atkins of Exeter, Jennifer Bankston of Exeter, Michael Adams of Kihei, Hawaii and her 13 great-grandchildren. Carolyn moved to Ivanhoe, California from Arkansas in 1942, at the age of 15, and remained a resident of Tulare County for the rest of her life. She worked as a citrus packer and homemaker for most of her life and was a faithful member of Walnut Grove Assembly of God Church in Ivanhoe for many years. Graveside services will be held at the Visalia Cemetery on Thursday, May 2nd at 9:30am at the Pavilion.
