Jo-Ann Carol Meier was born in Rockville Centre, NY to Frances Marie (Schwartzbart) Wagnell and Joseph Henry Wagnell. She accepted Christ as a young girl and "served Him all her days". On June 18, 1966 she married Robert Meier in Queens Village, NY. Jo-Ann and Bob served in several churches in NY, NJ and CA, primarily with children and youth ministry, becoming increasingly involved with Awana Clubs. In 1994, with great encouragement from Jo-Ann, they entered full-time Christian service at Awana in Streamwood, IL. Three years later the Lord called them to be Awana missionaries in CA (to eventually include NV as well) settling in Visalia, CA. "Grammie" is survived by three children and five grandchildren: Josette Marie Harrison and children Sydney, Talia and Zachary; Calvin Wesley Meier and daughter Kaelyn; Robert William Meier II and daughter Jaymee Jo-Ann. A memorial service will be held at the Visalia Evangelical Free Church, 1317 W. Main St, Visalia, CA, 11am on Saturday, July 27th.
