Llewyne K. Smith

Llewyne K. Smith, Smitty (also known as Papa), age 84, died peacefully at his home in Visalia CA on Sunday Sept 29, 2013. He was born Nov. 1, 1928 in Memphis, TX to Wylie & Myrble Smith. Llewyne grew up in Texas & California. He graduated from Porterville High School in 1946. After high school he attended the old Visalia Junior College for a year. He held a number of jobs including motorcycle mechanic & taxi driver. He spent summers working as a Firefighter, being promoted to a C.D.C. Fire Truck Driver in 1949. In November 1949 he was Drafted into the United States Army and served for 2 years. He completed Leadership and N.C.O. School. He was a Cadre& Rifle Instructor in 1951.Attended Officer Candidate School. He Discharged from the Army in November 1952. In 1952-54 he worked for Montgomery Ward. In 1955 he started working with Southern California Edison Company until he retired.Smitty Loved Motorcycles. He belonged to the Wilson Ramblers Motorcycle Club in the 1940s. He did some amateur Motorcycle Racing in 1947-1948. He was Secretary/Treasurer for local chapter I.B.E.W. Union in the 1950s. He was President of The Sequoia Riders Motorcycle Club in the 1970s. And he was & Lifetime member of the American Motorcycle Association. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and a Member of the Crystal Benders C.B. Radio Club. Llewyne married Maxine Hood in 1956. They were happily married for 39 years. Llewyne married Pearl Jean Smith 1997-99. He was preceded in death by his Parents, wife Maxine, wife Pearl Jean, Daughter Regina Stanley, Brothers Marion & Zhearl, & his little Dog Poncho. He is survived by his Daughter Kellie Porter of Visalia; Brother Felix Smith of Visalia; Grandsons Robert Allen (wife Melissa), Jason & Damien Stanley ; Granddaughters Becca Allen & Vanessa Porter; Great-Grandchildren, Kimberlina & Sydney Allen, Christian, Kaleb& Kylee Stanley, and many nieces, nephews, Aunt Laverne Johnson, and others like-Family who will greatly miss him. Visitation will be held at Hadley Marcom Funeral Chapel, 1700 W Caldwell Ave, Visalia, CA 93277 between 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday 10/09/13. Graveside Memorial Service will be held at the Visalia Cemetery, 1300 W Goshen Ave, Visalia, CA 93291 at 10:00 am on Thursday 10/10/13.In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the SPCA-Valley Oak 29016 Highway 99, Visalia, CA 93277.
