Victoria Galit Rogando passed away on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at her home on North Giddings in Visalia, CA. She was 87 years of age at the time of her passing, surrounded by her daughters Refresnia, Yolanda and son-in-law Phillip. Victoria began her life in the Philippines on the Samar in 1926. She survived the Japanese occupation of WW2 and was a survivor of a ferry sinking. After marrying Ignacio Rogando, she relocated to Sapangbato, Pampanga, on the island of Luzan. Two children were born there Rofresenia and Yolanda. Victoria was widowed in 1967. In 1979 Victoria immigrated to the United States joining her two daughters. She became an American Citizen on October 2, 1998, an accomplishment she was very proud of. Except for a brief stay in Seattle, Washington, Victoria lived in Visalia, California with her daughter Yolanda and son-in-law Phillip. She loved to baby-sit for her family and friends. Many of the children she watched over remembered her and visited her in her final days. Survivors include one brother, Delfine; sisters Gungdina, Manuela, Soledad, Gloria, Nancy, Josie and Rosalinda; Daughters Rofresenia Boast and son-in-law John Boast of Bozeman, Montana and Yolanda Collins married to Phillip Collins of Visalia, California; Grandchildren Jamel Boast of Montana, Michael Collins of Tahlequah, OK, Kenneth Collins of Sinton, TX and five great grandchildren. Our home is sadly quiet today. Even the small brown dog that often slept at her feet seems sad. She will be missed.
