Lola Loridell Walker

Lola Loridell Walker born May 3, 1934. But never made it past the ripe old age of twenty five! Her parents were Minnie Violet Ford and Alfred A McGill, Lola had four older sisters, Delores Adeline, Dorothy Caroline, Bettye Lou and Myrtle Jane McGill who died in infancy. When her mother remarried first to Jim Blanton, and then to Emmett Morgan Cumpton she gained three beloved brothers and a sister: Martin Blanton, David Morgan Cumpton (who died when a few days old), Robert Wallace Cumpton, and Mary Ruth Cumpton. In her teens she moved from Oklahoma to California where she remained until her retirement. Lola married Harry Thomas Vinyard on May 7, 1951 in California. They lived in Goshen, Ca for several years until she became pregnant with Regina they then moved to northern California in the lake county area. When they wed Harry had three living children: Loyd Vinyard, Richard Vinyard and Shirley Felsinger (Vinyard) that Lola loved as her own. In addition to Harrys children she gained eight grandchildren Tommy Vinyard, Denny Vinyard, Patty Vinyard, Sandy Vinyard, Candy Felsinger, Timmy White, Terry White and Karen White ( who became an adopted big sister to her daughter Regina) In 1962 Harry and Lola were blessed with their daughter Regina. While Lola would have welcomed many more children into her family, life had other plans so she poured that much more love into Regina and became a mother figure to all of the other children in her life. Lola and Regina often traveled to visit her family in OK, she treasured family and they treasured her. She always had a witty phrase and a laugh, delivered with a classy air and wise look. Everyone felt special, cherished, and beautiful when around Lola. After Harry's death in January of 1979 Regina and a friend conspired to introduce her to Thom Walker. Their quiet dinner led to her discovering the true romantic love of her life. On February 14, 1980, Lola and Thom were married. When Regina started her own life, Lola worked various jobs eventually finding fulfillment as a founding member of the United Domestic Workers Union, here she blossomed and found her true calling utilizing her skills organizing and motivating people and her belief in fair play and the inherent good in all people to build something important, to be the voice for so many people that needed help. During this time she earned the respect and love of many, she met presidents and politicians at all levels of federal state and local governments. Most of all she never forgot her desire to better the lives of those who care for the elderly and people that were not capable of taking care of themselves; she retired in 2005 leaving behind many friends and associates who she treasured to spend more time with family and her beloved sugarbump's. Lola spent the past few years visiting her friends and family via Facebook as her illness no longer allowed her to travel but as with everything she did she attacked it with everything she had, friends and relatives near and far could now chat and have a coffee with her every day. Allowing her to continue her role as family matriarch. She was a wonderful example in life, and when death loomed, she continued to be an example for us. She offered comfort to the pastor who came to her room to comfort her. She wanted everyone to be happy for her, she was soon to be Home with God and Jesus. Lola went home on May 1, 2014 just a few days shy of her 80th birthday. She left us with one request, celebrate her life! Lola was preceded in death by her parents and step parents, Her husband's Harry Vinyard, and Thomas Walker, three stepchildren: Robert Vinyard, Loyd Vinyard, and Shirley Felsinger (Vinyard), Sisters: Myrtle Jane McGill (infant), Dorothy Day, Delores Sharp and Bettye Isom, Brothers: Donald McGill (infant), David Morgan Cumpton (infant) and Robert Wallace Cumpton, Grandson, Trent Easley, several nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughter, Regina Easley Regina's husband Bob, and grandchildren, Charles Shaw (wife Amanda) Jarad Gregston (wife Kelsey) Robert Easley, Kali Easley, and Great Grand Children Trent Shaw, Anya Shaw, Sister, Mary Ruth Cumpton, Brother, Martin Blanton, numerous nieces and nephews, friends, relatives and especially her union brothers and sisters with whom she shared some of the most fulfilling time of her life creating the United Domestic Workers Union.A viewing will be held on Friday, May 9, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 pm at Hadley-Marcom Funeral Chapel in Visalia. Graveside service will be on Saturday, May 10, 2014 at 9:00 am at Visalia Public Cemetery.
