Janice App Lehman

Janice (Jane) Gloria App Lehman passed away on September 3, 2014 at the age of 87. She was born in Fullerton, CA on February 11, 1927 to Adeline and Max App. Jane graduated from Van Nuys High School and attended UCLA. She married Elmer Lehman on November 29, 1958 and they made their home in Fresno, CA. Jane and Elmer farmed the land they lived on enjoying a full life as a fruit of their labor. Jane's deep faith and love for Jesus prompted her to serve others unselfishly. She had a compassionate heart for the broken hearted, and her ministry ranged from teaching girls in juvenile hall how to sew to visiting shut-ins and the elderly. Jane's passion was baking and she was well known for her delicious home baked pies. She was an accomplished seamstress and made many beautiful dresses and suits. Every year her garden was filled with a variety of bright colored flowers she lovingly planted. She persevered by finishing a beautiful room size area rug that took 35 years to complete. The things that Jane did best in life were the things that mattered most. Her priorities were God first and family. She excelled at loving and devoting her life to them. She was a living example of faith, service, and forgiveness. She finished life well, fixing her eyes on Jesus the author and perfecter of her faith. She is now standing with Jesus who is saying to her, "Well done, good and faithful servant". Jane was a member of St. Mary's Anglican Church in Fresno and St. Paul's Anglican Church in Visalia. As a Daughter of the Holy Cross, she lovingly served alongside her beloved sisters in Christ. Jane is survived by her husband Elmer of 55 years; two daughters, Linda Sheffield and husband Keith of Atascadero, and Leslie Blair and husband James of Visalia; four grandchildren, Shannon, Chad, Addie, and Samantha; and one great grandchild, Abilene. A Celebration of Life will be held at 11 AM on Saturday, September 20 at St. Paul's Anglican Church, 120 N Hall St, Visalia CA 93291. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul's Anglican Church or St. Mary's Anglican Church, 6175 E Kings Canyon Rd, Fresno CA 93727.
