Juan Cuevas died peacefully on April 24th in Visalia CA at the age of 89. Juan Cuevas is survived by his children, Guadalupe Hernandez, Amador Cuevas, Ana Maria Cuevas, Fidelina Cuevas, Jovita Avalos, Juan Cuevas, Uriel Cuevas, Reyna Cuevas, and David Cuevas. Juan A. Cuevas was born on May 6th, 1926, in Michoacn, Mexico to Emiliano Cuveas and Ermelinda Arias. Juan was raised in Barranca Seca, which is a small ranch in Central Mexico. At a young age, Juan learned to harvest corn and learned to manage the farm with his family. Juan was a hard working man and always took on extra work to ensure there was food on the table. At the age of 40, Juan migrated to the United States where he settled in Los Angeles, CA. Years later, Juan was able to migrate all of his children to Los Angeles, CA. Juan accepted the responsibility of being a single parent and raising all 9 children on his own. Juan often worked multiple jobs and collected cans to ensure his family was taken care of. Juans main passion were his children and ensuring they had a better life. Juan's favorite hobby was playing volleyball. He was a large man and very athletic and often dominated the game. Juan also enjoyed attending fiestas and listening to Ranchera music. He loved spending time with his family and friends at family fiestas and gatherings. As time passed and the family grew, Juan's passion became his grandchildren. Juan loved telling his grand kids stories of life and how important it was to work hard and go to school. Juan lived a meaningful life and his children and family adored his person. Juan stood 6' 3" tall, however he was known for his tender ways and gentle voice to his family. Juan Cuevas was a great man and his family will miss him dearly. A funeral is scheduled for May 1, 2015 in Granada Hills, CA with a reception to follow at Guadalupe Hernandez's home.
