Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Veteran- Robert(Papa)Ruhl entered Heaven's Gate to meet his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 15th, 2015-Blessed is the life he lived, for the last 19 years with his wife Beverly; he shared in the joys and sorrows of all of their family and friends. All who knew Bob knew he loved his Lord and his wife above all else, as well as his Princess and Pepper who brought him much comfort through the later stages of his decline into Alzheimer's. May 3rd 1931, Bob entered into the beginning of 84 years of life through the love of his parents Elmer and Alice. There were two things that brought him the most joy in life; the marriage with his first wife, Irene Shisz to whom he was widowed, and the marriage to his second love of his life, Beverly Cosme. The other people that brought him joy and pride included his children, his 12 grandchildren, and his 9 great-grandchildren. The many friendships he built over the years give testament to the man that had faith in his God, morals he lived by, ethics he worked by, along with a sense of humor, belief in his Country, an undying loyalty to his family and friends. Bob was a man of character. Living his faith was not the only way Bob served his God; he served in Church and he was always willing to help with his hands and his prayers. Bob received his 50 year pin through the Carpenters Union as a Senior Journeyman Carpenter. Bob was also a veteran. He began his service on December 6th, 1951 with the U.S. Army as an infantryman. He was stationed out of Fort Sheridan, Illinois with the 7th Cavalry Regiment. After he endured the Korean War he came home safely as a Corporal with a Korean Service Medal, Bronze Service Star, United Nations Service Medal, and National Defense Medal. Bob's parents, his brother Bill, sister Evelynn, along with his son Ted, were there waiting to welcome him at the Gates of Heaven when he arrived to meet his Lord. His remaining family and friends grieve, give praise and glory to God, for the life and memories created. Bob will be waiting in Heaven for his wife, Beverly Ruhl; brother, George and wife Lillian of Macedona, Ohio: sister, Betty Vance of Twinburg, Ohio; sister, Ruth Fox of Concord, Ohio and his sister, Shirley Lyon of Kingsburg California. Bob will be watching over and waiting for his children; son, Craig and wife Donna of Freemont, California; daughter, Cindy Smith and husband Glen of Madera, California; son, Jonathan Cosme and wife Sarah of Visalia, California; daughter Chris Cosme of Visalia, California as well as his puppies Princess and Pepper. Graveside services for all who would like to come and visit with Bob one final time before he is laid to rest will be held on October 23rd, 2015 in Madera, California at 1:00pm at the Arbor Vitae Cemetery, 1301 Roberts Ave., Madera, California. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Hadley-Marcom Funeral Chapel, Visalia, California. Memories and Reflections from Beverly Ruhl: I would like to express my gratitude for each person who assisted Bob and I through the most difficult journey we had to face together. To my sister, you kept me strong through the darkest days and helped me walk when I had no strength to face the tasks of each day or the emptiness of the night. To Maria, thank you so much for the love you shared with Bob and I, you touched his heart and mine. While you allowed for the reprieve of his daily life tasks, you brought friendship and care through one of the most difficult transitions we had to face. I am so grateful to the Hospice care team, and Hacienda Care Facility, for the effort put forth by all of your staff to make the final weeks a blessing to our family. Bob was cared for with love, compassion, and dignity through the most difficult part of his disease. He was not alone, and this brought me comfort. Thank you for helping us provide Robert the care he needed to find Peace in his final days.
