Alfred Eugene "Gene" Godfrey

Alfred Eugene “Gene” Godfrey passed to eternal life on March 12, 2017. Gene was born February 21, 1930 in Brewer Township, Muskogee, Oklahoma. He moved to Exeter, California in 1938 with his family, where he attended school and formed many lasting relationships. In his early twenties, Gene served his country for six years in the Army during the Korean Conflict, learning a trade in auto mechanics that would become his entire career. He was a “Ford” man all his life and worked in many of the local dealerships in the area. Gene returned to the military in the early 1970’s to serve in the Navy Seabee’s branch, retiring after twenty years. Gene married Wanda Lois Faulkner on February 2, 1957. They spent 60 wonderful years together raising their children in the Visalia area. Gene was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Godfrey; mother Ruby Godfrey, brother Lloyd Godfrey, sister Pauline (Godfrey) Phillips. Gene is survived by his wife: Wanda, daughter: Joy, sons: Steven, Paul, Mark, David and Daniel. Eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and many extended family and friends. A visitation will take place on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 1:00 pm, followed by a Funeral Service on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at 2:00 pm at Free Will Baptist Church, 239 S. Dode Ave., Farmersville, California 93223. Burial will be private at Bakersfield National Cemetery. Services entrusted to Hadley-Marcom Funeral Chapel, Visalia.
