Angie Salazar

Our mom Angie Salazar, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2024, at Glory Days Assisted Living facility, welcomed into heaven by her husband, family and our Lord. Her family spent countless hours with her there, praying with her before she passed along with the very caring staff at this facility. 

Our mom was born on February 26, 1938, in Hanford, CA to Jesus & Margarita Baltierra, she was the youngest of seven. Our mom was raised in Hanford and met her soulmate in high school, our dad David, and they were married in June 1957 and were married for over 62 years. Our mom would tell us stories of challenges she faced growing up, losing both her parents at a young age, as well as a sister (Larie) who took over the parenting role. Our mom would tell us she would be comforted when she saw our dad, like her life would be fulfilled. 

Our mom spent her entire career in the VUSD working as a teacher’s aide/ assistant with an emphasis on children of migrant farmworkers who predominately spoke Spanish in the math lab. The only other career aspiration was raising three boys while she was working in the schools. She made sure to have time available for us when we got out of school or when we were off for the summers. I think we knew the impact she had on the kids she worked with but we continue to hear stories of the food she made for her coworkers at school events…Angie’s enchilada’s and burritos are still talked about to this day. Of course we saw this firsthand, any time anyone would come to our home to visit, they were always fed…no matter the day of the week or time of day. 

With three boys playing three sports, our mom was all over the central valley with our dad driving kids to games, practices and even the all-stars. The two of them would take turns with different sons and make every single game, at least one of them would be there to cheer us on. She did remind us of some of her fondest trips with us growing up was our annual weeklong trip to Cayucos, CA with our Aunt Fannie & Uncle Chris, and numerous trips to our aunts and uncles’ homes so we could see all the major league teams in CA. All of us being Giants fan and mom was the lone Dodger fan, but we all still loved her since she was our mom. Once our mom finished the chauffer services, she found herself with an empty nest and then started the next chapter of her life, traveling with our dad to anywhere they wanted to go. They loved Lake Tahoe, Las Vegas, Laughlin, Reno, Cayucos and beautiful destinations our dad earned through his work to Acapulco or Hawaii. 

Our mom was preceded in death by her parents, her husband (David) and 6 of her brothers & sisters (Ascension “Chonte”, Fannie, Jess, Betty “Nettie”, Larie and Mona). She is survived by one sister, Margie and many nieces, nephews as well as godchildren. Our mom was so proud that she raised her 3 sons in the Catholic Church and our time spent at George McCann Catholic school, as well as achieving all our sacraments of marriage. Her oldest, David (spouse Elizabeth, son David & his wife Isabelle and her great grandson Ian), Anthony (children Sydney & Nicolas, and two great grandchildren Elizabeth & Landan), Patrick (wife Lisa, daughters Marissa (husband Marty) and McKenna. 

In lieu of flowers we ask that you consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society, mainly due to the loss she had at an early age to this disease. Or if you can think of another charity to donate in our mom’s name, we know she’d appreciate it since she spent her life giving to others, especially making sure people had a meal to eat. A mass of Christian burial will be held on January 31, 2025 at 10:00 am, St. Mary’s Catholic Church. A reception will be immediately followed at St. Mary’s Hall.
