Arthur Frank Florez

Arthur was born on July 21st, 1951, to Mary Morales and Florentino Galan Florez. We will miss Arthur’s humor, kindness, and loving spirit. He loved fishing with his compadre Jess, playing pool, and his favorite NFL team was the 49ers. 

He passed away peacefully surrounded by family on June 6, 2024, at age 72.

He was proud that he attended Elbow Creek Grammar school when it was a kindergarten thru eighth grade. At Elbow Creek he loved playing sports and playing in the unique playground which had a huge pipe to crawl thru, old fashioned climbing bars and a tether ball! He went on to Redwood High School where he demonstrated how fast he could run becoming the best and fastest cross-country runner breaking and setting records thru his high school years! He also loved wrestling and was on varsity teams with three of his brothers!

On September 10, 1976, Arthur married Teresa Najar Molina. They had three loving sons: Arthur Jr, Remigio Leon and Adrain Florez! 

He joined the Army in June 1970. While in the Army Arthur trained in weapons and became a sharpshooter! He received his honorable discharge in June 1973. After his military service, he was employed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Sacramento District. He worked as a dam operator which included tedious calculations to release water during and after storms. Originally, he worked at Kaweah Lake and after approximately ten years he transferred to Pine Flat Dam. 

On August 1, 2006, the Department of the Army presented Arthur with the prestigious “Commanders Award for Civilian Service” an award rarely given. 

At Pine Flat Dam looking out from the towers made Arthur feel privileged and proud!

He now joins our heavenly Father with his dad Florentino G Florez and his three brothers Manuel, Robert, and Mario Florez. 

Survived by his mother Mary M Flores, brothers Florentino J, Gabriel R, and sister Christine M Florez; By his wife of 47 years Teresa Najar Florez; children, Arthur Jr and Misty Florez with grandson Javen Garcia; Remigio Leon and Jessica Florez with grandchildren Payton and Ariel, and his youngest son Adrain Florez.
