Barrie Hugh Boyett was born July 19, 1935 in McAlester, Oklahoma, to Hugh and Ava Boyett and passed away peacefully at his home on December 10, 2022. Barrie’s family moved to Corcoran in 1940 and he happily told folks that he stepped off the train on New Year’s Eve. Barrie grew up on a dairy and graduated from Corcoran High School in 1953. In 1956 he married his high school sweetheart, Una Lyle Harvey. Together they raised three sons Steven, Michael and David. Barrie was a lifelong farmer until his retirement in 2020, when he and his wife moved to Tulare. He served on the California Cotton Growers Board, Cotton Incorporated, Corcoran Irrigation District Board, Corcoran Cemetery District and the Hanford ASCS Committee. In addition, he was a member of the Corcoran Lions Club and the Corcoran Rotary Club. Barrie enjoyed spending time at the family cabin at Bass Lake and in later years at his home in Cayucos. He loved to travel with his wife and their friends. He especially enjoyed his fishing trips at Lake Powell and rooting for his beloved Oklahoma Sooners. Barrie’s greatest joy came from his family and driving around his ranch in his many farm vehicles. Barrie was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Ava Boyett; his brother and sister-in-law, James and Doris Boyett; his sister and brother-in-law, Lynda and Robert Cunningham; and his in-laws, William and Una Harvey. Barrie is survived by his wife of 66 years, Una; his three sons and their wives: Steven and Susie Boyett of Tulare, Michael and Kacy Boyett of Corcoran, and David and RaeAnn Boyett of Visalia. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and spouses: Steven and Angela Boyett of Paso Robles, Matthew and Nicole Boyett of Tulare, Ben and Victoria Mullins of Tulare, Sammie and Steven Sola of Pismo Beach, Bryan and Jill Boyett of Tulare, Erik and Emily Boyett of Corcoran, Katelyn and Jeffrey Coggan of Bakersfield, Nick and Molly Boyett of Tulare, Phillip Boyett of Fresno and Bryn Boyett of Lemoore. Barrie also leaves behind ten great-grandchildren: Liam, Ellie, Max, Owen, Kent, James, Logan, Hudson, Adalyn, Bristol and Baby Sola due in April along with several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at the Corcoran Cemetery on Monday, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Valley Children’s Hospital or the Corcoran Community Foundation.
