Fay Duran Peña passed away with family by her side on October 3rd, 2024 at the age of 89. Her life was filled with many blessings as she was just 10 days shy of celebrating her 90th birthday. She was born on October 13th, 1934 in Artesia, New Mexico. As a young girl, her family moved to Tulare, CA. She married her sweetheart, David S. Peña, on March 14th, 1957 and eventually, they had four children of their own. She knew hard-work and discipline as she was in the fields picking before the day had even started, while also working full-time between agriculture and production lines of work. After all that, she was still maintaining her household for her family.
Fay was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend to so many who knew her. Her hospitality and welcoming heart combined with her cooking and baking abilities offered beautiful memories made on Saturday nights and holidays surrounded by family. She loved singing her favorite songs and bringing people together, making them feel like they had always belonged. She was incredibly proud of her garden as she grew many fruits and vegetables that she used in her delicious recipes. If she wasn’t tending to her garden, she was in the kitchen preparing food with her favorite music playing.
Fay is survived by her two sons, Rudy Peña Sr. (Delores) and Johnnie Ray Peña, and her daughter, Virginia Peña Felemi (Viliami); two sisters, Phyllis and Minnie Duran; one brother, Manuel Duran; nine grandchildren, Richard Cruz Pasillas Jr., Philip Johnathan Pasillas, Brian Christopher Pasillas, Monica Monique Peña, Rudy Peña Jr., Candace Renee Peña, Amy Alejandra Gomes, Jiselle Rae Peña, and Johnathan Michael Peña; along with 15 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
She will be reunited with her husband, David S. Peña Sr.; her son and son-in-law, David Peña Jr. and Viliami Felemi; her parents Baldomero and Petra Duran; her brothers, Felix Duran, Joe Duran, Raymond Duran Sr., Robert Duran Sr.; and her sister, Amelia Hernandez. Services in care of Hadley Marcom Funeral Chapel.
If you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is by believing in your heart that you are made right with God, and it is by openly declaring your faith that you are saved.” -Romans 10:9-10 NLT
