Mary Davis Green

July 5, 1917 — September 17, 2018

Mary Naomi Davis Green, 101 years old, and a long-time Tulare County resident, passed away on September 17, 2018, at Kaweah Delta Hospital in Visalia, CA.
She was born on July 5, 1917, in Goshen, CA, to John and Junia (Kame) Hicks and was 1 of 6 children. Mary grew up and attended school in Visalia, CA.
 
Mary married Albert Davis in Glendora, CA, on April 3, 1935, and they celebrated 62 years of marriage. They raised 2 sons, Lloyd and Vernon Davis, living in Ivanhoe, Hanford, and Tulare, CA. They also tended to their “Davis Ranch” in Tulare, CA, farming and harvesting walnuts from their orchard. After selling their ranch, they moved to Visalia, CA, where Albert Davis passed away in 1993. 
 
Mary worked many jobs, to include a few, working as a waitress at the Rice Bowl in Tulare for several years and working as a supervisor for the Tulare Foster’s Freeze for over 10 years. Mary worked and retired from the Tulare District Hospital as a dietician and supervisor. She also worked and volunteered as a “Pink Lady” at the Tulare District Hospital.
She proudly volunteered and served as a “Den Mother” for the “Boy Scouts of America”.
 
Mary married John Green in Lake Tahoe, in 1994, and they celebrated 24 years of marriage. She assisted John with his apple farm after moving to Watsonville, CA. They eventually bought property and moved to Lindsay, CA, and finally settled in Visalia, CA.
 
Mary embraced life and was very beautiful, loving, compassionate, active, and social. She adored her family and friends and greatly enjoyed many activities: church, music, games, traveling, crocheting, sewing, clubs, organizing family reunions, volunteering, cooking and dancing. 
 
Mary belonged to the Tulare Grange (Lifetime Member and served as Secretary), Tulare Horseless Carriage Club, Model A Club, Elbow Creek Hall, Moose Lodge, and Watsonville Grange.
 
Mary was preceded in death by her father, John Hicks (Visalia), mother, Junia (Hicks) Flippen (Visalia, CA), husband, Albert Davis (Visalia, CA), brother, Freeman Hicks (San Leandro, CA), brother, Jacob Hicks (Visalia, CA), brother, Ellsworth Hicks (Visalia, CA), brother, Paul Hicks (Porterville, CA), and Nora Strong (Visalia, CA).
 
Mary is survived by her spouse, John Green (Visalia, CA), son & daughter-in-law, Lloyd & Margaret Davis (Leavenworth, KS), son & daughter-in-law, Vernon & Erika Davis (Tulare, CA), 2 Stepsons & spouses, Bob Green (Castaic, CA) & Ray Green (Visalia, CA), 5 Grandchildren & spouses, 13 Great-Grandchildren & spouses, nieces and nephews and other relatives.
 
A Visitation will be held at Hadley-Marcom Funeral Chapel, from 12:00 to 3:30pm, September 27, 2018. A Funeral Service will be held at Hadley-Marcom Funeral Chapel, 1700 West Caldwell Avenue, Visalia, CA, at 10:00am, September 28, 2018. Burial will follow at the Visalia Cemetery.
