Obituary for Miguel Angel Reynoso
Miguel Angel Reynoso of Visalia, California, born September 29, 1954, in Ejido Cucapah Indigena, Mexicali, Baja California, passed away on January 12, 2025. Born to Hijinio Reynoso Haro and Dolores Luna Haro, Miguel’s life was a testament to hard work, resilience, and unwavering devotion to family and community.
Miguel immigrated to Woodlake, California at 7 years of age with his parents and two younger brothers. After graduating from Woodlake High School in 1973, he answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the United States Army. In 1974, Miguel was deployed to Kaiserslautern, Germany during the Cold War, a critical posting in light of the ongoing Soviet threat to Western Europe and the Vietnam War. During this time, he welcomed his only son, Miguel “Michael” Angel Reynoso, Jr.
Following an honorable discharge, Miguel returned to Woodlake, where he dedicated himself to his work and community. He began his career with Pep Boys and Grand Auto. In later years, he pursued his entrepreneurial spirit, opening an auto repair shop in Farmersville He transitioned to a career in public service, first working with the Glenn L. Moran Youth Detention Center in Visalia and later joining the Hanford Sheriff’s Department where he began his career with the Sheriff as a Correctional Officer I and steadily moved up the ranks until he retired as a Detention Sergeant in 2004. While there, he was widely recognized for his sharp appearance in his work uniform, particularly his shoes, which “shined like glass.” Miguel was a true professional and displayed great dedication to his career.
In retirement, Miguel found solace and joy in restoring vintage cars, a passion ignited in his youth. His 1935 Chevy two-door sedan with suicide doors held a special place in his heart, a testament to his craftsmanship and devotion. He loved this car so much that he refused to consider any propositions that would have required him to part with it. Miguel took great pride in his knowledge of “Old School” auto restoration and enjoyed mentoring younger generations in the skills needed to restore and appreciate these timeless vehicles.
Miguel was the kind of man who would give you the shirt off his back. He was always willing to help so many people, often putting off his own work to lend a hand wherever it was needed. His warmth and generosity were unmatched. When he wasn’t helping someone out, he would spend time riding his Harley motorcycle or working on his next classic car project.
Miguel’s kindness and generosity left a mark on everyone he encountered. He was a pillar of strength and compassion for his family, a loyal friend, and a guiding light to all who knew him. Miguel’s life was one of purpose and love, and his legacy will continue to inspire those fortunate enough to have known him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
He was predeceased by his father, Hijinio Reynoso, and his brother, Francisco Reynoso. He is survived by his beloved mother, Dolores “Lola” Reynoso, his son Michael Reynoso, and grandchildren, Hailey and Michael Reynoso. Miguel also leaves behind his siblings: Aaron Reynoso, Esther Valencia, Rosie Cofre, Sam Reynoso, and Hijinio Reynoso, Jr, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
