Raphael is fondly known to his family and close friends as Ninja.
Ninja was born in Sylmar, California, and baptized at St. Columban Church in Los Angeles. He was a child at heart with a kind and gentle soul. Ninja found joy in playing games, singing, and dancing. He enjoyed good food and cooking dishes which he lovingly shared with his family and friends. Ninja had a unique gift with numbers, and math was his passion. He graduated from Philippine Science High School and later earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in math from the University of New Orleans (U.N.O.). He served as the President of the American Mathematical Society ( U.N.O. Chapter). His achievements were recognized with multiple awards, scholarships, and membership in prestigious honorary societies, including Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Theta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa to name a few. To his family and close friends, the moments we shared with him were the most precious of gifts. He is survived by his parents Fiel Mariano, Marissa Gatchalian, and siblings Trixie, Yeyey, JP, Dom, Michael, Ella, other relatives and close friends who will miss him dearly. He will always have a special place in our hearts and his spirit will remain with us forever.
Join us in celebrating his life and homecoming with our Lord.
